The Secret Weapon against Adrenal Fatigue

Adrenal glands are located right above our kidneys. Without them, we cannot live. They are probably the important glands in our body because they affect us in so many ways: our energy, metabolic rate, immune system, and blood sugar.
While blood and saliva tests look at the quantity of adrenal hormones secreted, the Sodium/Magnesium ratio in Hair Mineral Analysis indicates their overall effects on the body. If our body is a car, no matter how much fuel (adrenal hormones) we have in our tank, if our engine (adrenal effects) is weak, it will always impair our movement (physiology).
I would say more than 90% of our population suffers from some degree of adrenal impairment. The people who disagree, would only have to take note if they experience any of these symptoms:
  • Fatigue
  • Needing exercise or coffee to get your day going
  • Allergies
  • Sensitive to skipping meals
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Weight gain in the belly or trunk
And to be honest, many of us do experience at least one of these symptoms. Fortunately, there is one simple remedy that anyone can try to help their adrenals: eating every 3 hrs. You are not eating more in total, but more in the frequency of your meals.
Just divide your ideal weight by 15 (credited by the work of Dr. George Watson). This will give you the minimum number of ounces of chicken, fish, or beef as a source of protein that you should consume everyday for your adrenals. Divide that by 4 or 5, which is the number of meals you eat if you’re eating every 3 hrs.
For example, an adult male who’s ideal weight is 150 lbs, should eat 2 ounces of protein per meal, if they are eating 5 meals/day. Initially starting out, if you don’t measure out these quantities in the beginning, you will most likely under eat your minimum protein content. Just a rough estimate to keep in mind:
-1 glass of milk= 1 ounce of protein
-1 egg= 1 ounce of protein
– 1 deck of cards= 3 ounces of chicken
Eating every 3 hrs, ensures optimal levels of glycogen (storage form of glucose) to help prevent those dips in energy, blood sugar, and/or headache spikes in people who have adrenal impairment. In addition, benefits include potential weight loss. Refer to this link for more information: http://www.3hourdiet.com/home/index.php?page=Faq
But remember that restoring your adrenal glands for good requires many more factors than just changing your eating pattern. One’s oxidation rate has to essentially become balanced. But this could be a good way to start.

Why is Bile so Important?

The term “bile” has had an important relation to one’s health for over 2,000 years. Notably, as part of the four Humors of Hippocrates Medicine: black bile, yellow bile, phlegm, and blood. If any of these humors were out of balance with one another, then disease ensued. Today, bile represents the power of one’s digestion.
1-1.5 quarts of bile has to be produced by the liver each day to maintain a strong and healthy digestive system. Because 60% of our immune system is located in our intestines, one can imagine the consequences that occur when this is compromised. Anything less than this amount, will cause dysbiosis, indigestion, constipation, heartburn, and impaired detoxification of the body.
Most of my patients (who tend to be Slow Oxidizers), will have low bile flow. Only when they have a balanced oxidation rate, will their bile come up to speed. Until then, it is of utmost importance for them to receive the supplement GB-3. Impaired digestion will always lead to impaired health.

The Critical Need for Detoxification

Nutritional Balancing was a science developed by Paul Eck since the 1970’s. It was a brilliant yet simple model of healing that worked very well. However, flashing forward to 2011, the level of toxicity experienced by people today is unprecedented in our history.
From electromagnetic waves emitted by cell phone towers, ionizing radiation from nuclear plants, chemical preservatives in our grocery store, and the pesticide-rich but mineral deficient soil that we get our food from, we are assaulted by all angles. Because this occurs insidiously and in synergy, we have a limited understanding of our deteriorating health until the Doctor catches something in our blood work.
That is why for many people today, supplements are necessary but not sufficient for their health. Detoxification is also critical to resolve their long-lasting ailments.
The supplements given for Hair Mineral Analysis results helps to normalize one’s biological chemistry. In the process, many toxic metals that were hidden deep in the tissues become released into the blood. Although this is an overall gentle and gradual process, this can prove to bear intolerable in some patients, unless they are also doing coffee enemas, near infrared saunas, meditation, and even taking herbs for the kidneys and liver.

The Importance of Yin & Yang

Most of us have seen the picture of the famous black and white circle to represent “Yin & Yang.” But how many of us today know it’s supreme importance to health?
This 10th century symbol depicts the existing interconnectedness of opposing dual forces in nature, as taught by the 2,500 year old religious philosophy of Taoism. Hot & Cold. Dark & Light. Male & Female. They are the polar opposites that permeate our world. Yin predominantly means feminine, expanded, cold, and damp. Yang predominantly means masculine, contracted, hot, and dry. In illness, the person is either too yang or too yin. More than anything, our environment determines which side we’re mostly leaning towards.
Food that are Yang include:
  • Sea Salt
  • Meat
  • Poultry
  • Fish
  • Eggs
  • Cooked Vegetables
Foods that are Yin include:
  • Fruits
  • Juices
  • Sugars
  • Alcohol
  • Raw vegetables
Yin foods are those that tend to grow above (fruits) the ground in trees, while Yang foods are those that tend to grow under (vegetables) the ground. Additionally, most bodies in the world today are too Yin due to:
  • Ionizing Radiation
  • Toxic Metals
  • Food Refining
  • Electromagnetic Pollution
  • Alcohol & Drug use
  • Medications
Earlier, I had not taken this concept too seriously in holistic health. However, it wasn’t until a recent patient of mine who was suffering from chronic vaginal yeast infection finally found relief when she switched to a more Yang diet. This was even after powerful natural anti-fungals such as Aloe Vera, Coconut Oil, and Oil of Oregano had failed. Not surprisingly, a more Yang diet is essential to enhancing the effectiveness of Nutritional Balancing.
